PIXEL BREWING COMPANY

The Pixel Brewing Company is fairly new, starting to make beer in May, 2013. The brewers specialise in American-style ales, which they make in small batches with innovative ingredients and great expertise.
At the time of writing (mid-2014), Pixel beers are only available at the better Sydney craft beer pubs. However, judging by the beautiful “480P” American Pale Ale that I tasted at the “Dove and Olive” in the Surry Hills area of Sydney, there’s a bright future ahead for Pixel. At 4.8% ABV (hence the name 480P), this is a cloudy, orange-amber colour, with a very strong and glorious hop aroma, that has an oxygen/ metallic aroma. This had a delicious, hop-driven bitterness, followed by sweet notes of pale malts and some tangy citrus and then there’s a long, hop finish.
I returned to the “Dove and Olive” the following week, to drink this fabulous beer again – but the kegs were finished and I missed my dose of “480P”.
It’s on my list of must-drink-again beers. Pixel Brewing have also made a “640P” American IPA (India Pale Ale), which includes rye malt and bourbon in its ingredients. Please let me try that someday.
By the way, I couldn’t think of anything clever to say about pixels; HOWEVER, there’s one thing for sure. You’re almost certainly looking at a great many of them right now. They’re the coloured dots on a computer or ‘phone screen.
I did have something clever to say about pixels after all. OK, I just had something to say about pixels.}
